The USCIS announced that the H1B registration period for 2024 is extended until 9 am Pacific Time on March 25, 2024. The initial H1B registration period opened at noon Eastern on March 6, 2024, and was originally scheduled to run through noon Eastern on March 22, 2024. The extension to March 25, 2024 is due to technical problems and system outages experienced by some registrants. The agency extended the registration period to provide additional time for those impacted by these problems.

During this period, prospective petitioners must use a USCIS online account to register each beneficiary electronically for the selection process. Once the registration is completed, employers must pay a $10 registration fee for each beneficiary.

USCIS still intends to notify registrants selected for the H1B cap lottery by March 31, 2024.
