What is myUSCIS?

Posted by Karol Brown | Nov 06, 2024 | 0 Comments

myUSCIS is a personalized account to help you understand and complete the immigration process.

On myUSCIS, you can find:

  • The latest information about how to apply for immigration benefits.

  • Helpful tools for preparing your application and finding citizenship classes.

  • Information to help you explore different immigration options.

How to Create an Online USCIS Account

1. Go to the USCIS Website

Visit: https://myaccount.uscis.gov/create-account

2. Enter Your Email Address

Type your email address and confirm it.

USCIS will send you an email with instructions to confirm your account. You will be directed to the “Create a Password” screen.

This email will come from [email protected], so make sure your email settings allow messages from this address.

3. Create a Password

Choose a secure password for your account. Make sure it includes letters,  numbers, and special characters long enough to satisfy the USCIS.

4. Choose a Two-Step Verification Method

To keep your account secure, you need a second way to verify your identity each time you log in.

You can choose to verify by an authentication app, SMS text message, or email.

After you choose a method, USCIS will send you a code. Enter this code on the registration page.

5. Save Your Backup Code

USCIS will give you a backup code in case you lose access to your phone or email.

This code is VERY important, so keep it in a safe place.

6. Select Security Questions

You will choose and answer five security questions. These questions will help you if you forget your password.

It is EXTREMELY important to write down your answers and keep them safe.

7. Select Your Account Type

On the “Welcome to your USCIS Account” screen, select “myUSCIS” under “Login to a USCIS Service.”

Choose “I am an applicant, petitioner, or requestor” and click “submit.”

8. Confirmation

A confirmation message will be sent to your email.

If you don't see the email in 10 minutes, check your spam or junk folder. If you still don't find it, go back to the home screen (https://myaccount.uscis.gov/) and click “Didn't receive confirmation instructions.” Enter your email and select “resend confirmation instructions.”
